The East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department
celebrated their 75th Anniversary in 2006.
A parade and a wonderful dinner were held
    in celebration of the event.
    Many dedicated individuals are volunteer
firefighters and several women belong to the
    ladies’ auxiliary.

Our fire department covers 32.2 square miles, less
the 2.8 square miles within the village and also provide mutual aid to the Mohawk Volunteer Fire Dept.

The East Herkimer Fire Department is a big part
of our community.  They hold two chicken BBQ’s
each year and tickets sell out in a hurry!
On Halloween, the department hosts a party complete
with goodies and hayrides for the kids.

The department’s ladies’ auxiliary also hold
several events at the fire hall each year, including a physic fair, ice cream social and garage sale.
